In April, 2026, we moved to Marlin, Texas (Central Texas, 30 minutes from Waco). Yvonne Welz (that’s me) will offer riding lessons as soon as we get settled in.

Riding lessons will be available for total beginners, intermediate students, or anyone who is interested in learning Classical Riding skills, and how to effectively school the horse to LOVE their work with you!  We use brains instead of brute strength, and develop the horse’s joy in their daily work. This is old-fashioned good horsemanship.

Private one-on-one lessons at Wishing Welz Ranch will include the use of one of our schoolhorses at our Marlin, Texas facility. I also offer the (now rare) classical lunging lessons to develop your seat on the lungeline, with no reins or stirrups. My own horses are fitted with classic “English” saddles, as that saddle type develops a rider’s seat best, but the saddle style does not matter at all! Horses do not care whether you ride “English” or “Western” – they appreciate good, clear communication.
